What You'll Do

We are in need of a SCRUM Master to help our organization forward in the application of the by To-Increase leadership chosen SAFe methodology. Our SCRUM Master should be (become) a first amongst equals and train new SCRUM Masters and current acting SCRUM Masters in our teams.

You get the chance to help our organization to a new level in terms of SCRUM-management and make sure our processes are executed as expected. You are the SCRUM-leader in TI, who shows the way towards a SCRUM-Agile working company.

What-is situation

A lot is yet undefined. We need to define processes and ways of working in more detail and this job have a large degree of flexibility in filling in these details. Also, you get to train other people to work the same way you do, making training that much easier to do.

First-year forecast for the role

You start as a SCRUM Master for a specific team and when we find you suitable for the trainers-position, you could grow to become the SCRUM-trainer, responsible for training our other (acting-) SCRUM-masters. Eventually, you could lead the SCRUM-community and become a master of ceremonies for the SCRUM of SCRUM’s, etc.

Desired deliverables, for your first year with us in the role of SCRUM Master:

In 3 months: Embedded SCRUM Master in one team

In 3-6 months: Changing the behavior of the team in terms of SCRUM attitude and reporting

In 6-12 months: Showing the ability to train another SCRUM Master or take on a second-team yourself.

Overall, you should always look for the possibility of improvement – in process, in teams, inactions, in reporting – everywhere. We aspect you to (1) Plan the plan, (2) Execute the plan, and (3) Report the plan, with as few deviations as possible.

A day in the life as SCRUM Master at To-Increase:

You start every day with a consistency check on Epics and underlying work-items. Based on the findings, reach out to team members and guide them into adjusting any mistakes, at the same time educating them why this is necessary.

Then there are reports (Power BI) to analyze, new reports to think about and create, there are the daily standups you are preparing and chairing as well.

Every two weeks we have the Sprint-review and the Sprint Demo/Retrospective that needs preparation and chairing.

Once every quarter we have the Program Increment Review, - Demo, and – Retrospective that needs to be prepared and presented.

All these meetings need to be thoroughly prepared, so that presentation of the results to Management is perfect.

Of course, you also need to provide training to people and make them aware of what is needed to be a SCRUM-master.

Overall role goal

You, the SCRUM Master, play a key role in the definition, development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Agile practices (with an emphasis on SCRUM) within the To-Increase organization. You will be responsible for leading the continual Agile transformation and practices as well as promoting accountability and transparency across all levels of the To-Increase organization.

What You Need to Be Successful (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering or equivalent field;
  • You should have proven experience in (greenfield) set up, roll out Agile/SCRUM practices;
  • Technical/Engineering background in an e.g. Software Developer or Product Owner type role. We think it is important that you speak the “same language”, for faster acceptance and therefore a productive collaboration;
  • Experience in playing the SCRUM Master role for 3+ years for a software development team that was diligently applying SCRUM principles, practices, and theory;
  • Certifications (e.g. SAFe) in the field are a must good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency;
  • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the SCRUM approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.);
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring people, getting the best out of people (5+ years)
  • Excellent (English) communication and mentoring skills;
  • Team player and used to work in an international environment (due to our international locations);
  • Planning skills, deep drive into details when needed;
  • You should bring a natural, Proactive, and ‘can do’ attitude.
