Senior Scrum Master

What will you do?

As a Scrum Master you’ll develop and lead high-performing, multi-discipline team, instilling in them a clear vision and a passionate drive. You’ll play a leading role in fulfilling the vision, driving the implementation of our products and setting standards for our teams to follow.  

The Scrum Master plays a key role in the definition, development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of Agile practices (with an emphasis on Scrum) within the organization. This role will facilitate sprint planning, retrospective, and daily activities related to stand-ups and sprint burn down; as well as maintain relevant metrics that help the team see and understand their progress during a sprint. This role owns and resolves identified impediments. The Scrum Master will help improve our environment where continuous deployment/ improvement of the development process is the focus and everyone’s common goal is to deliver outstanding software as fast as possible to our customers. The Scrum Master will be responsible for leading the continual Agile transformation and practices as well as promoting accountability and transparency across all levels of the To-Increase organization.

 

Your scope includes

  • Coach and mentor team members on agile standards and best practices, i.e., Lean, Kanban, Scrum, XP, DevOps, SAFe, LeSS, etc.
  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.
  • Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
  • Changing the culture of the company towards “changes welcome” culture based on transparency, trust and high-level collaboration.
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  • Ownership and accountability of establishing agile values, methods, principles and practices for the delivery of projects and products.
  • A building of a self-organized team.  Guiding the team on how to get the most of out of self-organization.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, e.g. product backlog refinement, preplanning, planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Enables the exploration of different agile approaches.
  • Configure and maintain an agile project management tool
  • Challenging and improving the operation of the team, improving their performance and capabilities.
  • Build operating models that value ownership, responsibility, responsiveness, predictability, and
  • Removing impediments/blockers or guiding the team to remove impediments/blockers by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owner to prepare and clarify the product backlog.
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog
  • As a problem solver, you eliminate conflicts, assist your team in developing appropriate solution strategies, and keep an eye on potential future tensions.
  • You observe your team in the cooperation and the application of agile methods and deduce from it measures, g. training and de-escalations.
  • You represent the team interests towards relevant stakeholders and work out improvement for areas of tension within the agile transformation.
  • Provides a deeper understanding of the team’s reporting.
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and coaching them to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable.
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
  • Support the team to improve their technical work by reviewing results and establish lessons learned as well as track the improvement. 

 

Desired qualification and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering or equivalent field
  • MBA preferred
  • Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least 5+ years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Certifications in the field is a must

 

What skills do you need to be successful? 

  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).
  • Experience in managing Development teams in a fast pace environment (2+ years)
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring people, getting the best out of people (5+ years)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Team player and used to work in an international environment
  • Planning skills, deep drive into details when needed.
  • Should have Pro-active and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Product Owner Experience
  • Agile Coach Experience
  • SAFe experience and certification
  • DevOps experience
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
  • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team.
  • Experience building Business Applications on top of Microsoft Platforms is a plus
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
